Executive Director Adina Pantella and CBP’s Passenger Systems Program Directorate (PSPD) are being honored in Category 4: Using Innovative Technologies to Deliver Simple, Seamless, and Secure Services for using biometric technology to make international travel faster and more seamless while maintaining strong border security. Through collaboration with airport authorities, Adina has led innovative solutions that reduce processing times and modernize how travelers enter the United States.

Under her leadership, PSPD deployed Enhanced Passenger Processing (EPP), which uses biometric photo matching to complete key customs assessments before travelers interact with a CBP officer. EPP has reduced pedestrian processing to just seconds and allows officers to begin reviewing air travelers earlier in the arrival process. Adina also led the pilot of Seamless Border Entry (SBE) for Global Entry members, using “On-The-Move” biometric technology to begin identity verification as travelers move through airport terminals, reducing the need for traditional passport-check interactions.

These innovations are helping CBP reduce wait times, improve passenger flow, and create a more convenient arrival experience without compromising national security. The technology is particularly important as the United States prepares to welcome increased international travel surrounding the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is expected to attract millions of visitors. Through EPP, SBE, and the broader Airport Modernization initiative, Adina and PSPD are building a faster, more secure, and customer-centered future for international travel.
