The Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Summer EBT Team is being honored in Category 2: Delivering Excellence in Digital Services for rapidly implementing a user-focused food assistance system that delivered $40 million in benefits to over 300,000 families in just 12 weeks.
Facing tight deadlines and national uncertainty, the team designed and launched a comprehensive, mobile-friendly, and automated Summer EBT platform well ahead of most states. Their solution included a user-centric application portal, advanced de-duplication logic, and robust benefit management tools, all built to ensure speed, accuracy, and accessibility.
By delivering benefits with 100% accuracy and no errors, the team not only met but exceeded federal requirements, serving as a national model for other states. Their efforts ensured Kentucky children received timely support during the summer months, while also laying the groundwork for a sustainable, long-term solution to fight food insecurity.
